Did you know an estimated 65% of military couples were not able to take a honeymoon due to operational or mission requirements?

Why Operation Honeymoon?

Operation Honeymoon  was born out of online conversations between Beth Wilson (military spouse, columnist and talk show host) and military spouses on online forums such as Hooah.com. These spouses, like so many military couples, postponed their ‘dream’ wedding and honeymoon, electing to get married at city hall preceding an upcoming deployment. The couples plan on taking that honeymoon, having that ceremony following deployment..."later." Sadly, many spouses have been waiting, hoping, for for that long desired honeymoon...for years.

Military couples face unique challenges associated with the demands of military life. Deployment, redeployment, and relocations are stressful on many levels. And couples encounter another challenge post-deployment—’re-entry.’

Beth realized the aggressive deployment schedule and challenges of military life are taking its toll on spouses and service members alike. Spouses are 'war-weary' and need a morale boost. They need an opportunity to reconnect, refresh and strengthen their marriage. They need a honeymoon!

Operation Honeymoon has partnered with Carnival Cruse Lines, All About Travel (travel agency), D'Andrea Brothers (Soldier's Fuel nutritional supplements) and Hooah.com to send military couples on a six-day honeymoon cruise. Couples will be sent to San Diego, California for a vow-renewal ceremony then embark upon a six day cruise to Capo San Lucas and Ensenada. Marraige enrichment opportunities will be available from top marraige counselors for those couples wishing to attend.

Operation Honeymoon cruises are planned for June 2009 and December 2009.
